The Clinic Dispensary (Panama Punch Flower)

The Clinic is a well known dispensary chain in colorado, known not only for quality product and numerous cannabis cup wins but also a professional environment and we'll trained staff. The down side? Price. The marijuana is expensive, now we are no strangers to expensive marijuana, and good weed is worth every penny so we stopped in to get something special after visiting a few other shops and leaving disappointed. After smelling a few different strains we were excited to find the Panama Punch, it was exactly what we wanted, the buds looked dense and tight, the trim job was nice, and they were pretty good size buds with great trichome coverage. The smell of this strain is what attracted us to it to begin with (as well as the name) it was extremely sweet, almost tropical. So we decided to pick some up! This is where the tale gets a little annoying at least to us. First everything is pre packed so we ended up with a half eighth (1.75 grams)

the thing that frustrates us the most about pre-packing is the fact that what sold us on the strain the nice big beautiful buds suddenly became popcorn buds in a sealed package that you can't smell through maybe it's a personal thing.

After getting the strain home we were anxious to see what we really got, good news the smell was still there it was the aroma we smelled in the store,  bad news... The buds were not as tight, as well trimmed, or as trichome coated as the ones they were openly displaying. But it all goes in the same place anywhere so we got over it and loaded a bowl.

The high was good, not amazing enough to break records, but definitely solid, if your looking for something unique and particularly potent this strain is not for you, if your looking for a strain that does the job then this will do just fine. The reason? Taste! This stuff tasted bad, it was rough,  and for that reason alone it's hard to recommend, especially for the price you pay. It was a fishy taste, that just would not go away, it was so off putting that after the first bowl we decided to pack something else to get the taste out of our mouths. On the bright side they had compliant packaging, a clean environment, friendly staff, and a nice selection. I still recommend checking out the clinic if you want to try some unique strains, as for Panama punch it's a no go for us. But I'm sure they have some dank strains we just picked the wrong one.

Starbuds Dispensary (Orange Kush Flower)

Now if you have read the dispensary review on Starbuds you most likely know we were not impressed, so with the flower we picked up we were cautiously optimistic. First the bad (More suspense that way), the bud structure. These buds were leafy, and loose, as you will see from the pics we had to search to find the money shot shown above. Now the good, the smell, flavor, and high, which ultimately is all that matters depending on who you are.

This was some aromatic marijuana, lovely soft notes of orange that were just as palpable in the store as when you got them home. It was light, citrus, crisp and overall extremely pleasant, once you actually packed a bowl the smell only got stronger. The best part? That smell carried on to the flower, the taste was almost exactly as it smelled. The bud hit clean, and wasn't harsh at all. The trichome structure on this bud wasn't bad either, although not the most loaded flower we have seen it definitely isn't lacking.

LivWell Dispensary (Purple Diesel Flower)

First, you just have to admit how pretty this flower is, Purple Diesel, fantastic trichome coverage, beautiful hairs, and a deep rich purple color, we were practically drooling when they opened the jar, so excuse us if this review has a more photos then others! This Purple Diesel came from LivWell's Platinum shelf ($11/gram to $185/oz) which means its hand trimmed, hung dried, glass cured, and overall a beautiful flower. Lately LivWell's top shelf has gone through some up's and down's but when this came to the shelf we had to pick some up, and thankfully we were not disappointed.

Would you pass that up? After the looks the next step, the smell. This strain had quite the aroma to it, definitely had the diesel smell you would expect. and it just got stronger as you packed it into the bowl.

The high was awesome, for a Sativa dominant Hybrid we were skeptical normally favoring Indica and Indica Hybrids unless we have a sweet tooth, but this strain did not disappoiont. It was a relaxing sativa that provided a nice mellow high while still being able to function and complete tasks, a great morning strain for sure. This sativa definitely did not have the sometimes all too common head rush and anxiety/paranoia that some sativas can do.

Overall I would recommend this strain on the platinum shelf if you see it pick it up, I can't speak to the lower tier purple diesel that could show up on LivWell's mid to bottom shelf but I am sure if it looks half as good as this then you can confidently grab an 1/8th.

StarBuds Dispensary (Northern Lights Flower)

We recently went into Starbuds (4690 Brighton Blvd, Denver, CO) looking for something special! First off Starbuds also has multiple locations however they are under different names. A nice little location albeit small. The staff were friendly enough, and the product looked good! It was definitely pricey ($20.00/gram tax included $380.00/oz) so we decided to just get a gram to try. They had a fairly small selection but something caught my eye... NORTHERN LIGHTS! A classic strain that I have yet to try out of a dispensary. The buds all looked small as you can see from the picture, and it was no different inside the jar all rather small, but you know what they say? Good things come in small packages! So we grabbed a gram and waited for the budtender to weigh us out. Firstly lets touch base on compliance, as you all know I hate shops that fail to deliver on compliance, it puts the whole industry we have worked so hard to build at risk. The packaging was opaque however, as we have seen with other shops did not have a child proof lid. The labels did have the universal symbol for marijuana, and the appropriate disclaimers and licence information, yet failed miserably on the ingredients list, which should be a full break down of everything that went into getting the plant from seed to sale. For example listing: Calcium, Nitrate, Copper sulfate, iron sulfate, manganese sulfate, potassium nitrate, phosphoric acid.... etc... etc... etc... Starbuds label was surprising non descriptive when it came to ingredients, which concerns me for two reasons 1. they aren't disclosing what I am consuming, and 2. its against state law...

These points aside lets get back to the flower itself. The buds were small and smelled better in the jar, once we got them back and actually smelled isolated buds the smell was gone, it was like hay. Disappointed we got out the grinder and got ready to throw it in the vape, once the product had been broken up the smell did return a bit, but not to the extent that motivated us to buy it in the first place. They were a little loose as far as bud structure goes and had some excess leaf, however, the stems were cut nicely showing us that at least it was a hand trim and not twister trimmed. Trichome coverage was moderate, not the frosty high times bud you always see, but not ditch weed either. Once it was in the vape was when this bud truly shined, it was aromatic and had a nice creeping high to it. The taste never really developed but overall that was balanced out with an exceptionally smooth high. In all Starbuds has some good and some bad as every shop does, compliance aside their flower is so so for the price I think you can find better around Denver.
